Located about 60 km south west of Hanoi, the Huong Pagoda is a vast complex of Buddhist temples and shrines, masterfully built into the limestone of the HuongTich Mountains.

It’s renowned for the Perfume Festival, a Buddhist event that lasts from the first to the third month of the lunar calendar. Naturally, you can enjoy spectacular scenery beside the yen River all year long, as well as the historical grandeur of the pagoda complex itself.

There’s even a beautiful boat ride included…if you fancy an invigorating work-out, you can always try rowing a boat yourself!

Detailed itinerary:

7.40-8.30            Pick-up by the tour guide at Friends Travel booking office, 2 Hang Buom, Old Quarter, Hanoi. We start the 60km journey to the Perfume Pagoda, having a comfort break along the way. There’ll be an opportunity to buy snacks or even some Vietnamese handicraft products, such as lacquer ware, paintings, embroideries etc.

10.o0                    Upon arrival, we’ll gather our things and board our boats for a thrilling 40 minute sail along the river – a perfect pace to marvel at the beautiful landscapes all around.

11.00                     We’ll leave the boat and do some hiking up to one of the most unique pagodas inside a cave, HuongTich, on the mountains summit (2.5km in height).

On reaching the cave, many sense the feeling of entering the holy land of Buddhism. You’ll also have the incredible views from this high vantage point.

12.30                     We’ll head back down to enjoy a Vietnamese lunch in a local restaurant nearby.

14.20                    After our rest, we’ll visit the ThienTru Pagoda (Celestial Kitchen), known for its exquisite religious architecture and artifacts.

15.00                    We’ll board the boat to Duc dock and start the return journey to Hanoi.

18.30                     Arrive back in Hanoi at the Friends Travel office. Trip ends.
